No two births are exactly alike.
Some babies arrive exactly on their due date.
Others decide they have their own timeline.
Some births are quick and uncomplicated.
Others involve unexpected changes, longer labors, emergency deliveries, or additional medical care.
None of these experiences make your story any less meaningful.
In fact, your journey—whatever it looks like—is part of the story your child will one day treasure.
Plans Change, and That's Okay
One of the biggest reasons I encourage families to book their newborn or Fresh 48 session during pregnancy is because it gives us flexibility.
If your delivery hospital changes...
If your induction date changes...
If your baby arrives early...
If your care team recommends something different...
We'll simply adjust.
Whether you deliver at your original hospital, another hospital in the Denver metro area, a birth center, or even at home, I'll do everything I can to accommodate those changes.
Your birth story matters far more than sticking to a schedule.
This is something I understand on a very personal level.
When my son was born, he arrived nearly a month early due to an unexpected medical emergency. Overnight, the birth plan I had carefully imagined changed completely. Our delivery, hospital stay, and those first days of parenthood looked nothing like I had envisioned.
At the time, it was hard to see beyond the uncertainty and emotion of everything that was happening. Looking back now, two years later, I'm incredibly grateful I stepped back from the chaos long enough to preserve those moments.
They weren't the moments I had planned.
They were the moments that became his story.
Today, those photographs remind me not only of how small he was, but also of the strength, resilience, and overwhelming love that carried us through those first days together. Our beginning wasn't perfect, but it was ours, and it deserved to be remembered exactly as it happened.
That's why I approach every family's story with flexibility, compassion, and without expectations. Whether your journey unfolds exactly as planned or takes an unexpected turn, your story is still beautiful, and it deserves to be told in a way that feels right for you.
If Your Baby Needs NICU Care
This is often one of the hardest possibilities for parents to think about.
If your baby requires time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), please know that your family is not alone.
Before becoming a photographer, I worked as an EMT with extensive experience in the NICU.
That background gave me a deep understanding of the equipment, medical environment, and the incredible dedication of the healthcare teams caring for your baby.
More importantly, it taught me something I'll never forget:
Even in the middle of uncertainty, there is still so much love.
If you choose to document your baby's NICU journey, I am completely comfortable working around medical equipment, monitors, oxygen tubing, IV lines, and your baby's care team. I'll collaborate closely with your nurses and providers, always respecting their guidance and prioritizing your baby's safety and well-being.
My goal is never to interfere with medical care. It's simply to preserve the love that exists in those moments.
Your Story Doesn't Have to Look Perfect
Social media often shows the highlight reel of birth.
- The smiling parents
- The perfectly wrapped newborn
- The peaceful hospital room
But real life doesn't always look that way.
- Sometimes birth is messy
- Sometimes it's emotional

That might mean scheduling an in-home lifestyle newborn session after everyone is settled.
